In elementary school, your child will need to be able to wipe themselves after peeing and pooping. This includes tearing off toilet paper, wiping properly, and flushing. So practice this at home. Give them praise for trying. Stay with them and remind them to keep wiping until the next piece of paper is clean. Give plenty of praise. Some children prefer to wipe while sitting, others while standing. Try to see what works best for your child.
After wiping, your little one will of course need to wash their hands. Many kids enjoy this, especially with extra soap. Make it fun and let your little one play with the soap. Then take a sniff of their hands: Mmmmm, they smell so clean. Rinse them off one more time. And then a high five! Good job!
