Is your child between 1.5 and 2 years old? If so, they might still be a little too young. You can still read books and talk about what’s inside the diaper. And remind them that big kids don’t wear diapers anymore. Not getting through to them? Try again in a few weeks. And keep inviting your child to come along to the bathroom, or to play with a stuffed animal or doll and diapers.
Is your child over 2 years old? If so, it may sometimes seem like they’re not interested in potty training. Often, they find the toilet interesting, but playing is even more interesting (or fun). Don’t make your child go to the toilet or potty in the middle of a game, but at set times. For example, after waking up, before lunch, before the afternoon nap, and before going outside. Is your child playing actively and do you see that he or she needs to pee? Then let your child take some toys to the toilet. Or set them aside and say that he or she can go right back to playing. That often helps. Your child will then know that playtime isn’t over.
