My child isn't interested in the potty, but is interested in the toilet. Is that a problem?

You can also start in the bathroom

That’s okay. Some children don’t want to use the potty, but they do want to use the toilet. That’s perfectly fine. We see this especially with older children. Make sure you have a good step stool and a toilet seat reducer so your child can sit comfortably and relax, and it doesn’t feel too intimidating. Stay with your child. Sometimes children will want to use the potty afterward. It’s also possible that your child simply finds the toilet very interesting but doesn’t want to use it yet. That’s good news, because it means your child wants to learn more about it, see it, and hear about it. Follow your child’s curiosity.
