My child would rather play than use the potty or the toilet. How can I get my child to cooperate?

Let your child bring one toy

Many children are afraid that playtime will be over completely if they have to use the potty or the toilet. That’s why they often say they don’t need to go. Sometimes they’d even rather wet their pants than stop playing! It can help to tell your child that they can take a toy (that one little car, doll, or Duplo block) with them to the potty or the toilet. Your child can hold it or you can place it near the toilet or potty. Also tell your child that they can go right back to playing after using the potty or toilet. Are there other children around? Then set the toy aside for a moment so another child can’t grab it. Does your child want to take a lot of toys with them? See what’s possible or let your child choose 1 or 2 things.
