Can you start at any time of the year?

Don't wait until summer

Sure, you can start when your child is ready. Starting around the holidays in December or during a move isn’t ideal. But you certainly don’t have to wait until summer. Nice weather isn’t a requirement. What’s more important is whether you and your child are ready and able to focus on it. During the practice phase (steps 3 and 4), it can help if you have a little more time to practice with your child. For example, when you’re on vacation. Some moms start potty training their oldest child while on maternity leave for a younger child. Of course, you do need to have the energy for that.
