Is my child ready?

You can start as early as age 2. Younger? See how your child is doing.

Children are usually ready to take their first steps toward potty training between 1.5 and 2 years old. You can definitely start once your child turns 2. Note: During the initial stages, your child will still be wearing a diaper, and you’ll take them to the toilet. You’ll also talk a lot and read books about peeing, pooping, potties, and the toilet. Only then will your child start practicing on the potty and the toilet. So, to start with, your child doesn’t need to be able to do everything yet. It’s nice if your child can walk, but they don’t need to be walking independently yet. Does your child understand a little bit what you mean when you talk about diapers, peeing, pooping, and the toilet? By pointing things out or using simple words? Then your child is ready. Follow your child’s lead and don’t rush things.
