Potty training from the very beginning usually takes between 1 and 5 months. Very few children become potty trained overnight. This happens very rarely, in children who first spend a long time observing how it’s done. By then, they are often already 3 or 3.5 years old. Most children, however, can be potty trained by the age of 2.
The pace varies from child to child, but every child goes through the same stages of potty training. At Ready for Potty , we Ready for Potty four stages, each lasting about 3 to 4 weeks. Health clinics also use these steps. If you have more time and attention to devote to it, the process can go faster, especially in the last two steps. But don’t rush through the steps; doing so often ends up taking longer in the long run. So take the time to spark your child’s curiosity and let them poop or pee on the potty or toilet for the first time. The actual training phase, during which your child practices using the potty regularly, often lasts 4 to 8 weeks.
