It happens all the time: a child who easily uses the potty at home suddenly regresses and starts using diapers again at daycare. That's not unusual – potty training is a sensitive process where trust and security play a big role.
As a professional, it’s important not to interpret this behavior as "not being potty trained," but as a sign that the child doesn't feel completely secure yet. Talk to the parents: what does the routine look like at home? What works well there?
Create a calm, predictable environment around toilet times at daycare. Maybe it would help if the child could watch another child for a bit, or if a familiar staff member accompanies them. Always keep the potty in sight and within reach.
Stay patient and reassure the child. Positive reinforcement helps: every little success counts. Often, the confidence will return on its own as soon as the child realizes they can practice at their own pace at daycare too.
