Do it together often

  • Children learn a lot from stories. And by doing things together with their mom or dad. That’s why we created a picture book.
  • By looking through the Ready for Potty together, your child will learn what happens on the potty and in the toilet. And it’s also just a fun moment to spend together. Of course, other books are fine too.

How do you read the Ready for Potty?

  • Grab the Ready for Potty and look at the pictures together. On the front cover, you’ll find the big search-and-find picture. On the back, there are short stories for each step. Some children and parents prefer the search-and-find picture, while others prefer to read the short stories. That’s perfectly fine. Just do whatever works best for you.
  • Describe what you see in the big picture. For example:
“Look, this little animal is sitting on the potty.”
“Look, this one peed in his pants.”
  • You can also ask questions like: “Do you see the potty?” Or “What is this little animal doing?” Or “Which little animal is wearing a diaper?”
  • When reading the short stories, you can say: Just like you! Or: You'll learn all that too. Isn't that fun?
  • ‍Let your child look, point, and respond. This way, your child will learn to recognize more and more things in a playful way. Give compliments and make it fun. You don’t have to read everything word for word. Just looking and talking together is enough.
  • Read the book together regularly. Short, cozy moments often work best. Or let your child play with the book on their own.
  • Even if you’re further along in steps 3 and 4, the book can help keep things lighthearted. Pull it out if there’s been a little accident. Look, just like a goat. No big deal.

Tips

  • Grab the Ready for Potty for some cozy moments together. Even if you’re further along in step 3 or 4. It helps keep things lighthearted.
  • Let your little one point to the pictures and explore them. Ask questions and laugh at the little animals. Just looking together is enough.
  • Read the book together more often. Repetition helps your child understand each step of the potty training process better.
